Fascinating Jugalbandi by dancers at Natya Thoranam 2023

The Amrita Cultural Trust organised it’s third annual event titled Natya Thoranam 2023 on Saturday in the city at the Kelika Indoor Auditorium in Taramati Baradari.  The evening showcased feature performances of six expert-led dance groups from across India of various classical dance styles, including Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Mohiniyattam, Odissi and the unique Telangana ancient dance form Perini.

Chief Guest Jayesh Ranjan,  I AS,  Principal  Secretary, Industries and Commerce and Information Technology in an online message said “ I wish Amrita Cultural Trust all the very best. Due to the dynamic nature of my work, I am unable to personally come and enjoy today’s cultural extravaganza which I was very much looking forward to. Dance is one of the best forms of self expression. Indian classical dances showcase the rich cultural and traditional heritage of our country. In today’s times these need our encouragement and patronage. I commend Amrita Cultural Trust for supporting artists’ and bringing to Telangana a wide range of classical dance forms from authentic schools of dance”.“My heartiest congratulations to the award winners and all the others who performed today”.


Dr. Thota Chandrasekhar, IAS (Retd.), AP, BRS President, said “I congratulate all the award winners and wish them good luck in their future endeavours. This is one of the best Jugalbandi I have witnessed. Earlier too I have graced the events of Amrita Cultural Trust and mesmerized by their dedication to preserve traditions in our social fabric. I wish that all the other Telugu states and other parts of India should carry forward this legacy”.

Chief of the managing committee, Rajesh Pagadala said, “ Amrita Cultural Trust is a non-profit organisation that  believes in nurturing and promoting performing arts and is in constant pursuit of improvising self and the people around. It is our strong belief that to attain a certain expertise, a dance performer requires a lifetime dedication and utmost devotion to understand the roots of Indian culture, traditions and mythology. We also offer scholarships to talented artists who pursue dance as a profession”.

Bhargavi Pagadala, active  executive committee person said “our goal is to reinforce old and vanishing classical dance traditions and promote awareness using technology and social media.  We inspire young talent by conducting speciality awareness programs and bring various classical dance formats on Pan-India basis onto one stage. We are confident that our efforts will enhance awareness and visibility of our performers to motivate our audience, viewers and passionate enthusiasts to come forward and contribute to Indian classical dance arts”.

Special guests of honour who graced the occasion were Sumathi Badugula, . IPS, DIG, Women Safety Wing, Dr. Anuradha Jonnalagadda, Head Dept. of Dance, Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communications, University of Hyderabad, Kalaratna  Dr. Vanaja Uday, Head Department of Dance, P.S. Telugu University, Hyderabad, Chavali Bala Tripura Sundari,  founder of Abhinayavani Nritya Niketan, daughter of Padmabhushan Dr. Vempati Chinnasatyam Garu and Guru D.S.V. Sastry, Vocalist, Department of Dance, Central University of Hyderabad, founder director Lasyakalpa Foundation for Arts, Hyderabad.
